The Dialogue with Wesley Bloeme

This feature is a question-and-answer session with a new Blount County Chamber member. So here we go with our 61st installment visiting with Wesley Bloeme, owner of College Student Pressure Washing, LLC.

What sets you apart? Started in 2014, by Wesley Bloeme, Maryville College student-athlete, to pay tuition. CSPW utilizes only professional equipment to give customers excellent quality, and unrivaled customer service, while saving money. CSPW has the experience to give your home or small business a fresh new look.

How did you get started? One of my childhood best friends approached during my during my freshman year at MC and wanted to find away to make some extra money the coming Summer. I thought about pressure washing because I could do it both back home in Atlanta and in Maryville during the school year. Shortly after starting, he realized that it wasn't for him. A couple months later I decided to legitimize the business.

How did you learn this trade? I definitely learned my people and customer service skills during the few years that I worked at The Home Depot in Maryville. I also did a lot of research online both on YouTube and through industry specific forums. I decided to call to some other pressure washing contractors from other states so I could ask them more specific questions. Good thing was that I was able to use some of the business principles that I learned in my classes here at MC.

Who is your mentor? My father, Peter Bloeme. He owns a flying disc company and rock climbing gym in Atlanta, Ga. He has helped me from the very beginning with website development, graphic design, equipment maintenance, etc. He is my go-to for advice whenever things don't go as planned.

Name three things you wish you knew when you started. I wish that I would have fully understood the sacrifice that it really takes to start and run a business.

What do you enjoy about running your business? I really enjoy meeting new customers and getting to know them on a more personal level. I also enjoy how much I am able to learn both about myself and business in general throughout the process.
