The Dialogue with Cory Blanton

This feature is a question-and-answer session with a new Blount County Chamber member. So here we go with our 22nd installment visiting with Cory Blanton, account manager of Aerotek Scientific, which does full cycle recruiting and employment for contract or contract to hire employees.
 
Describe what Aerotek does. Aerotek provides full cycle recruiting and employment for contract or contract to hire employees. We also have the ability to provide candidates as direct hires. We have a rigorous sourcing and screening process that typically provides the best candidate on the first submittal to the client. We then service the contractor and the client throughout the duration of the contractor's employment with us.
 
How did you get the background for this industry? Experience. There is no other way to succeed in the business of people other than to be experienced. I gained some valuable sales and marketing experience at a previous job to use as a foundation, but nothing compares to learning how to succeed in this industry like being in the industry.
 
Who are Aerotek's customers? Medical Centers, laboratories, research institutions, chemical companies, pharmaceutical companies, food and beverage manufacturers.
 
What are some of the major elements that impact your business? There are many influences that affect our business in one way or another. A better way to ask the question is how each of these impacts our client's business since we are simply an extension of them. for example, the Affordable Care Act has caused a surge in the need for healthcare talent and we expect this to continue for the foreseeable future. Environmental regulations have required more companies to report the potentially hazardous materials and substances found in their products or as a result of their manufacturing process. This causes an increased need of regulatory, quality control, and analytical chemistry positions.
 
Name three things you wish you knew when you started. 1) Attention to detail is far more important than anyone will ever know. 2) Only allow the things I can control affect my business/operating rhythm. 3) Networking is everything.
 
What do you enjoy about working at Aerotek? We are lucky enough to impact people's lives, both personally and professionally, in our industry. Helping hard working people better their professional situations is extremely rewarding. Receiving positive feedback or letter of recommendation from a client is a priceless reward. lastly, I am an extremely extroverted person, so I love having the opportunity to meet and build relationships with new people everyday.
