Chamber Initiatives

Ambassadors: Connect with fellow Chamber members and build business relationships with one-on-one personal calls to other members. Meets monthly.

Small Business Peer-to-Peer Group: Small business members come together to share knowledge, resources, and experiences.

Small Business Saturday: Participate in a national and local movement to support business the day after Black Friday.

Year-round Shop Local Program: This is a year-round shop local online platform that markets local businesses to consumers.

Women in Business: Women share best practices and discuss issues relevant to work and home life. Meets bimonthly.

HR Focus Group Supervisor’s Training: Monthly meetings to address HR issues in the workplace. Supervisor’s Training workshops are held twice a year to update supervisors on new and important human resource issues.

Legislative Briefings: You will be invited to local, state, and federal briefings with our elected officials and regulators, held throughout the year. You will also receive timely information from our legislators and the US & State Chambers that impact public policy and business regulations.

CEG Committee: The goal of the Creative Economy Growth Strategy Committee (CEG) is to grow the local creative economy by fostering creative placemaking, building a foundation for artists to live and work in the community, and providing resources for creative businesses and professionals.

Workforce

Workforce Advisory Collaborative: The workforce advisory collaborative brings together diverse stakeholders committed to building a strong, skilled workforce. Participants can include workforce-related experts at local businesses, educators, government agencies, and community partners who are readily involved with current and future workforce efforts.

8th Grade Career Exploration Fair: Showcase your industry and spark the curiosity of tomorrow’s workforce! Join us for the 8th Grade Career Exploration Fair, where local businesses connect with more than 1,500 students to share career paths, skills, and opportunities.

Job Signing Day: Join us as we celebrate students stepping into the workforce and launching their careers! Job Signing Day highlights their achievements and the partnerships with local businesses that make these opportunities possible, showcasing the incredible value of talent and community collaboration.

Work-based Learning: Work-Based Learning provides students with hands-on experience in real-world work environments. By partnering with local businesses, students gain valuable skills, explore career paths, and connect classroom learning to practical applications—all while preparing for their future success.

Mini Job Fairs at High Schools: Throughout the year, local high schools host job fairs, particularly during the spring semester leading up to summer. These events provide an excellent opportunity to connect with and hire talented high school students.

Smoky Mountain Scottish Festival and Games: Scheduled for May, East Tennessee’s premier celebration of Scottish culture returns featuring the beloved clans, games, and athletes.nd Choice

Hops in the Hills: Slated for June, this craft beer festival allows attendees to sample regional craft beer from the best breweries in the area.

Taste of Blount: Scheduled for September, Taste of Blount offers the community a sampling of the county’s best restaurants and food trucks.

Townsend Fall Festival: Set for September, this Bluegrass music festival offers fun for all ages with crafters and demonstrations honoring the Appalachian heritage.

Grains & Grits Festival: Scheduled for November, this festival brings together our thriving craft spirits and gourmet food community, while discovering some of the region’s legendary distillers and blenders.

Young Professionals

Young Professionals: Connect with other young professionals (40 and under) to enhance your professional career by engaging in community service, networking, and mentorship in Blount County.

Young Professionals mentorships: Join BCYP’s Mentorship Program, Ignite the Future, to discover how you can Ignite Your Future by becoming part of a transformative 6-month mentorship program—as a mentor! There are two cohorts every year beginning in January and July.
