Make no mistake – you’ll find plenty of strummin’ and twang, from clubs to riverside concerts to front porches. But you can also find bluesy ballads, symphonic strings and raucous rock. The trademark is live. Spring and fall find the most abundant opportunities for live music, but clubs and bars offer music year around. SPECIAL CONCERT SERIES INCLUDE: Vienna Coffee House – From open mic night to local songwriters to bands and an occasional national touring act, Vienna Coffee House offers an in- timate atmosphere for live music. Fridays and Saturdays at 6 p.m. with more offerings from spring through December. Songs By the Brook – This free summer concert series at Spring- brook Park focuses on folk, blues and Americana music. Sponsored by Parks & Rec, the series is on Thursdays in August and Septem- ber. Maryville Farmer’s Market and the Twisted Piston Car Club are usually on the premises as well. Sunset Concert Series – With the Great Smoky Mountains as the backdrop, the concerts are divid- ed into spring and summer sets, all at the Great Smoky Moun- tains Heritage Center covered amphitheater. All types of music, including an occasional tradi- tional Cherokee flute concert, are on the schedule for the two-hour concerts at 7 p.m. on Fridays. The Shed – Smoky Mountain Harley-Davidson’s open-air venue attracts some pretty big names to its Saturday night concert series, held April through September. Music styles include bluegrass, rock, Americana and blues, with the occasional cover band to really mix things up.
