  • Support the prompt completion of Pellissippi Parkway to US Hwy 321

 

2009 State Legislative Agenda

Business:

  • Support Right-to-Work Laws-Employment at Will
  • Oppose Fair Share Bills
  • Oppose Unfunded Health Care Mandates
  • Delay Implementation of the Streamlined Sales Tax

Education:

  • Oppose Elected School Superintendents

Transportation:

  • Support Completion of Alcoa Highway Improvements/Bypass
  • Support Completion of Pellissippi Highway to Highway 321

Workers' Compensation:

  • Recommend legislative changes to correct problems caused by "bad case law", specifically in Overstreet v. TRW, Gooden v. Coors and Wait v. Traveler's
  • Recommend further legislative changes to Sec. 50-6-102 to address definitions of injury by accident and arrising out of and in the course of employment

2009 Federal Legislative Agenda

Business:

  • Oppose HR 1409 America Free Choice Act
  • Oppose the Employee Free Choice Act/Cardcheck
  • Oppose HR 413 Public Safety Employer-Employee Cooperation Act of 2009
  • Support S 158 - expands access to industrial development bonds to assist small to medium sized companies in high-tech industries
  • Support Energy, Science and Technology
  • Oppose any changes to the National Ambient Air Quality Standards for ozone
  • Oppose Small Business Investment Act HR 3567
  • Support Reauthorization of Small Business Administration, specifically, the Small Business Fairness in Contracting Act HR 1873
  • Oppose Fair Share Bills

Infrastructure and Transportation:

  • Reauthorize Federal Highway Funding
  • Support Completion of Pellissippi Parkway
  • Support Completion of Alcoa Parkway
  • Support Funding for the Completion of Chickamauga Lock
  • Support the approval of the application for antitrust immunity filed by American Airlines, British Airways, Iberia, Finnair and Royal Jordanian to better serve the needs of our regional airport customers
