Doug Overbey to Facilitate Nonprofit Seminar Panel
Representative Doug Overbey has agreed to facilitate a panel on collaborations at the upcoming Nonprofit Training and Enrichment Seminar on June 4 at Maryville College.
The panel will focus on how nonprofit organizations can work together in their community to create a greater impact, and will include representatives from the seminar's sponsoring organizations: the Blount County Chamber Foundation, the Center for Strong Communities at Maryville College, and United Way of Blount County.
The seminar is almost sold out, but a few openings are still available for its Nonprofit 101 and Logic Modeling seminar tracks.
Tab Burkhalter of Burkhalter-Moser, PC, and Michelle Hankes, President and CEO of United Way of Blount County, will present the basics of running a nonprofit organization in Nonprofit 101. Topics include creating a solid board of directors, strengthening an organization's mission and goals, developing a working budget, and ensuring compliance with all state-mandated forms.
In Logic Modeling, Dr. Janet Kelly of the University of Tennessee will provide a hands-on workshop helping agencies create outcome measures. Outcome measurement is designed to help organizations gauge the impact a program has in its community, and it has become increasingly vital for funding, community support, and program improvement.
The seminar also features a track on Marketing Communications on a Shoe String, but that session is full.
Nationally renowned nonprofit management consultant Peggy Morrison Outon of the Bayer Center for Nonprofit Management of Robert Morris University will be the keynote speaker, kicking off the event with an address on strategic planning.
The price for the seminar is $20 per person, and attendance is limited to 90 registrants.
