The Daily Times Newspapers in Education |
The Daily Times’ Newspaper in Education (NIE) program provides teachers with newspapers for specialized, local, interesting, and innovative classroom curriculum. Teachers receive the newspapers, at no cost to them, thanks to the support of area community and business sponsors. |
Empty Pantry Fund |
The purpose is to provide food for the needy of Blount County at Christmas time. Money and volunteer time are needed. |

Fine Arts Blount |
Fine Arts Blount (FAB) is a non-profit group of artists, located in Blount County, Tennessee, dedicated to improving the quality of visual arts in our community. Goals are to encourage high standards and excellence in the visual arts, develop exhibit venues for our artists, enrich community life with "Artreach" programs, work mostly with community youth through volunteer art projects, enable and advocate for a cultural arts facility originating in and spotlighting Blount County. |
Friends of Camp Montvale |
Camp Montvale serves all people in East Tennessee and beyond through programs that develop Christian character, leadership skills, individual caring, honesty, respect for each other and the environment, personal responsibility, and citizenship in an outdoor environment. |
Martin Luther King Celebration |
The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Committee exists to plan a yearly celebration to honor the late Dr. Martin Luther King. Our goal is not to forget his legacy, the struggles he endured for the Civil Rights Movement and losing his life so others might have freedom. We can contribute to this cause by having dedicated volunteers, sponsorships throught financial gifts, program ads, attending the Business Luncheon and all the other special celebration events that are planned. |
Maryville Downtown Association |
The primary purpose of the Maryville Downtown Association is to function as a not-for-profit to promote Downtown as a place to work, live, and recreate. The association will use its unified voice to communicate with area agencies and governmental bodies for its membership. The association will assist in identifying needs and improvements, and be a facilitator for downtown. |
Maryville Farmer’s Market |
Mission of the Maryville Farmers' Market is: to promote the sale of local farm products, improve the freshness, taste, and nutritional value of produce available, encourage more social contact between consumer and farmer, to educate the public as to the agricultural traditions of East Tennessee and to celebrate and help preserve family farms. |
One Community |
One Community is a program developed by Mountain Challenge in partnership with Leadership Blount, Maryville College, and the three local schools systems, (Alcoa City, Maryville City, and Blount County). The outcome of this program is to foster a sense of community that reaches beyond the public schools and teaches students how to work together regardless of school alliance. This program helps to broaden student participation in the Blount County area and prepares them for today's challenging work environment. |
Richard Williams Leadership Academy |
The Richard Williams Jr. Leadership Development Academy is a Blount County based non-profit organization established to help address the needs of middle school-aged children. Through an initiative sponsored by the New Trinity Tabernacle and Life Covenant Ministries Church of God in Christ, of Knoxville and Nashville, Tennessee, the academy partners with Alcoa/Blount County Schools, Maryville City Schools, Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools, and Knox County Schools to identify and select the participants. Participants are not required to be affiliated with any religious organization or church. The participants in the Leadership component are enrolled in a 20-week course. During the course, incentives are offered to reach a goal of perfect school attendance and honor roll status. |
Stanley B. "Skeeter" Shields Scholarship |
| The City of Maryville-Stanley "Skeeter" Shields Scholarship provides financial funding for a current Maryville High School senior who is basically a good all-around citizen in school and the community. The scholarship encourages a positive attitude in all aspects of citizenship and assists the student to further their education. |
Wilderwood Service Dogs |
Wilderwood Service Dogs is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing multiple opportunities to our surrounding community by rescuing unwanted and homeless puppies and young dogs for their training programs. The rescued dogs are trained as service dogs for individuals with mental health conditions, brain disorders, and the elderly. Some other conditions include autism, dementia, and alzheimers. They also have a teen outreach program for at risk and challenged youths that get local teens involved with training the service dogs for the disabled. |
Kingdom Design Ministries |
Kingdom Design Ministries create rooms for children who have experienced devastation in their young lives. Through these rooms we are restoring hope in families and sharing our Christian Ministry. The rooms are donated at no charge to the family. All funding is based strictly on monies given by individuals and businesses. |
Primary Players Children’s Theatre |
The Primary Players Children’s Theatre Group is a drama troupe consisting of students ages 7-14. The main objective of the group is to provide opportunity and instruction in the field of Dramatic Arts and to develop the group in theatrical skills such as dramatic expression, artistic interpretation, technical presentation, etc. The children will develop a heightened appreciation for the arts in their own community and make it a fun and positive experience. |
