The Dialogue with Lonnie Hostin

This feature is a question-and-answer session with a new Blount County Chamber member. So here we go with our 98th installment visiting with Lonnie Hostin, senior manager of DWC Construction, which is a go-to general contracting firm for creating commercial interior spaces.

How did you get started? We are a 70 year old company that started out in the drywall business, since then we have focused on interior systems in the commercial space. "We build great work places"
 
What is your background? I have over 30 years of construction experience, from labor, project manager, owner and director of operations. I joined DWC here in Knoxville area to help them develop this office.
 
Who is your mentor? I would say my father at a very young age took me a taught me how to work in the construction industry. He taught me a trade that could be used through out my life, even if I didn't go into the construction field. I take pride in my projects and ensure my clients are informed of the progress of the project along the way.
 
Describe your customers. We are focused on the commercial architects, developers, property managers, real estate brokers with clients that need retail, doctor, legal, and general office spaces that are expanding, remodeling, building from a blank space. We also work in restaurants, hospitals.
 
What impacts your business environment? We can help in both an expanding market or a shrinking markets because we provide a service that can reduce space, expand spaces or revitalize space to keep up with trends.
 
What do you enjoy about the construction business? I enjoy working with the various clients that we come in contact with. I enjoy getting to know each of them and hearing about their vision of the project and then working with them to accomplish these goals and visions.
