The Dialogue with Wade McLemore
This feature is a question-and-answer session with a new Blount County Chamber member. So here we go with our eighth installment visiting with Wade McLemore, Sales Consultant at Paychex, which is here to provide payroll, human resource, and benefits solutions.
Describe what Paychex does. Paychex, Inc. is a leading provider of integrated human capital management solutions for payroll, HR, retirement, and insurance services. By combining its innovative software-as-a-service technology and mobility platform with dedicated, personal service, Paychex empowers small- and medium-sized business owners to focus on the growth and management of their business. Backed by more than 40 years of industry expertise, Paychex serves approximately 590,000 payroll clients across 100 locations and pays one out of every 15 American private sector employees.
How did Paychex get started? The company was founded in 1971 by B. Thomas Golisano with just $3,000 and a good idea – to make payroll outsourcing easy and affordable for small businesses. From those early days with just one employee, Paychex now has more than 12,000 employees serving more than half a million small- to medium-sized businesses nationwide.
How did you get the skills to work in this operation? I went through 200 hours of training before I could interact with a potential client. After my first round of job-dependent training, I embarked upon two additional tiers of intensive training to prepare me in becoming a consultant to the clients I serve.
What sets Paychex apart? A a number of government task forces and agencies are in place to make sure business owners are compliant with various regulations when it comes to the employee/employer relationship. Our role is to help lighten, or eliminate, the burden so that they can focus on running their businesses.
What do you enjoy about running or working at the business? My favorite aspect of working for Paychex is the people I get to connect with on a daily basis. I hope to not only grow my business, but also the businesses of Blount County.
