Small Business Start up Workshops

Bruce Hayes, Senior Small Business Specialist, conducts monthly workshops for those planning to start a business. During these workshops, participants gain information on legal forms of business organization, tax requirements, business license requirements, and an overview of a business plan. Business Counseling

Schedule a free, one-on-one, confidential business counseling session with an expert. Book an appointment with Senior Small Business specialist Bruce Hayes or a SCORE (Service Corp of Retired Executives) representative to discuss details pertinent to your business situation. Human Resource Focus Group

Meet monthly with colleagues who work with the challenges in the Human Resource field. Each meeting focuses on crucial employment issues and keeps you informed of updates on laws affecting HR practices. To join this group, contact Vicky Jones at vjones@blountchamber.com.

Women in Business Focus Group

The Women in Business group was formed for women who share common business objectives and daily personal and business challenges. The goal of this group is to build new relationships while learning new "best practices" from one another and from Chamber member professionals. This group meets quarterly at noon for an informal bring-your-own-lunch one hour meeting.

Legislative Alerts

Sign-up for email updates on state and federal legislative issues that affect your business. To be added to the legislative alerts database, contact Vicky Jones at vjones@blountchamber.com .

Air Quality Alerts

Blount County, as well as East Tennessee, have been designated by the EPA as a non-attainment area for both ozone and fine particulate matter. This designation makes it more difficult to attract new business and for existing business to expand. Chamber Members can now be alerted to air quality action days and learn what steps should be taken to reduce air pollution.
