Volkswagen Supplier Expo

As you may be aware, Volkswagen in the summer of 2008, has decided to build an assembly plant and their North American Headquarters in Chattanooga, Tennessee.  The Blount County Economic Development Board was part of a delegation that visited Volkswagen Headquarters in Wolfsburg with our Governor from October 21 through November 2, 2008.  During our visit we discussed how local communities could help assist the Volkswagen facility.  An area of interest for Blount County is trying to link existing manufacturers with the purchasing department of the Volkswagen Chattanooga facility.  Volkswagen has informed us that they will host a supplier’s fair on November 20, 2008.  See the advertisement below:<!--[if !supportLineBreakNewLine]-->

Volkswagen is seeking Professional and Administrative Staff & Local Suppliers of a range of products and services
Volkswagen will be accepting resumes and registering candidates for the following areas:

  • Administrative Support
  • Community Relations
  • Controlling
  • Finance
  • Human Resources
  • Information Technology
  • Process Engineering
  • Quality Assurance
  • Safety and Environment
  • Training and Development

Volkswagen plans to fill the posts within the next three to six months. Volkswagen will hold seminars at the expo on the history of the company, its strategy to sharply grow its presence in the United States and the automaker's work environment. For supplier companies, Volkswagen also will offer seminars to show how to do business with the automaker and what it is seeking from businesses. Volkswagen has partnered with the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce, Chattanooga State Technical Community College, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and other entities to promote the Career and Supplier Expo and communicate related information. Our region has been in contact with Volkswagen and we hope to have a supplier fair within our area, too.  However, I would encourage all interested parties to make arrangements to attend this fair.
This is an exciting time for our State, our region, and our county.  As the economy has softened in the automotive area we are confident that there will be opportunities to supply a company whose product is growing and we hope your company can take advantage.
