The Palace Theater Hosts Benefit Concert for Young Pickers March 9

The Palace Theater, located at 113 W. Broadway in Maryville, Tenn., will host a Benefit Concert of bluegrass, mountain, and Celtic music on Friday, March 9, 2012 from 7-9 p.m. This concert, with talented musicians donating their performances, is to raise money for the Young Pickers Talent Contest, May 5, 2012, in Townsend, Tenn. The Young Pickers Talent Contest takes place during the Townsend Spring Festival in the afternoon of May 5, 2012, at Great Smoky Mountains Heritage Center. The contest is open to acoustic musicians 18 years and younger. Young pickers will compete for prize money, ribbons, and studio time. Contest categories include guitar, banjo, fiddle, mandolin and open acoustic (dulcimer, bass, Dobro).
