Alcoa, Tenn. — The Hamilton County Board of Education and Hamilton County commissioners approved Hickory Construction’s $21.45 million bid to build the new Ooltewah Elementary School on Ooltewah-Georgetown Road in Ooltewah, Tenn.
The completion date for this project is Aug. 1, 2013, so the school can open for the fall 2013 school year.
Hickory Construction, Inc., will serve as the general contractor, working with Franklin Associates, Architects, from Chattanooga, the project’s architectural firm.
The work on this project consists of the complete site development, roadwork and building construction for this new 137,000 square foot, fully sprinkled school, housing classrooms, dining and food facilities, play rooms, media center, administrative offices and other support facilities.
This school will include a geothermal HVAC system and accommodate about 1,100 students from kindergarten through fifth grade with 17 classrooms.
“Hickory Construction is excited to break ground for this 13-month project, which will require some around the clock shift work to complete on time,” said Burke Pinnell, president of Hickory Construction. “Hickory strives to complete projects on or before deadline and focuses on customer satisfaction; we are proud to add this school project to Hickory’s diverse list of commercial, industrial and residential projects.”
