6/24/2012

Townsend, TN – Great Smoky Mountains Heritage Center will host a concert on Thursday, July 5 by the Burlington Teen Tour Band of Ontario, Canada. The concert will begin at 7:00 PM and cost $5.00 per person (free for Heritage Center members).

Because of the special opening ceremonies for this concert, guests are asked to be in their seats by 7:00 PM. Late arrivals may be delayed getting to their seats until after the opening ceremonies.

Among the band’s many awards and performances are such notable events as the Orange Bowl Parade, the Calgary Stampede, the Hula Bowl, St. Patrick’s Day Parades in Dublin, Ireland and Baltimore, MD; Rose Bowl Parade (lead unit); and many more. The group is in this area to perform in Gatlinburg’s July 4th parade.

The Burlington Teen Tour Band is a year round program in Burlington, Ontario, Canada, that began in 1947.  Band members are between 13 to 21 years of age, and the group meets twice a week for practices.

“Townsend has the good fortune to host an occasional gem of an event,” Director Bob Patterson said today. “This is one of those times. It’s a concert visitors and residents alike won’t want to miss.”

The Heritage Center concert is being made possible by Wal-Mart and by the Barn Event Center.
